BMTA has already prepared a number of non-air conditioned buses for passengers on a daily basis, with a banner saying “Free Bus Service for the People.” However, since the free service would adversely affect the BMTA’s operations, the state enterprise asked the Bureau of the Budget to give it monthly compensation of 204 million baht for a period of six months.
The State Railway of Thailand reported that it has prepared 164 trains to provide all third-class train services free of charge on all routes nationwide. A public relations campaign is being launched to inform the public of this new service, which does not include express and high-speed trains.
